1. We are to share. Verse 6 “Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.”
A. We are to share all good things with the one who teaches you God’s word and cares enough to correct you.
2. We are warned not to be scammed. Verse 7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
A. The worst scam of all is self deception. Self deception is an ongoing reality. I John 1:8
3. Be aware of what you are sowing. Verse 8 “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
A. This is the same choice as chapter 5. This is the deception. You cannot expect to reap when you have not sown, or anything other than what has been sown.
4. Patiently wait for the proper season. Verse 9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
A. It takes time for a harvest to grow, so it takes time for good works to bring forth good fruit.
5. Use every opportunity to serve. Verse 10 “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
A. Seize every opportunity to do good to all people. Our spiritual family is to be a priority.
