William Barkley said, “The great fact about the word of God is that it is a living issue for all people of all times. Other things may pass quietly into oblivion; other things may acquire an academic or antiquarian interest; but the word of God is something that every one must face, its offer something we must accept or reject.” God’s Word is a provision God has given us to thrive as His children. God’s Word, equips, encourages, inspires and teaches us. It is our “daily bread.” It is the primary way we hear from our Lord and Savior. 1. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…” (II Timothy 3:16) How would one explain this verse to a child? 2. “All scripture is inspired by God.” The word translated as “inspired” literally means “God-breathed...” Why is this important? 3. God influenced, inspired the writers of the Bible, so that their writings are called the word of God. How does this explain the continuity found in the sixty-six books of the bible, written by over 40 authors for over 1,600 years? 4. What is the difference between inspiration and revelation? 5. What is the connection to John 1:1? 6. What does Hebrews 1:1-3 tell you? How does Jesus speak to us today? 7. Read James 1:22 and Luke 11:28. What are the instructions in these verses? 8.
