1. Jesus’ unusual decision. (John 11:5-6) “Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days” A. It seems unusual because of timing. How did Jesus hear about Lazarus?
2. Jesus is aware of our distinctiveness. (John 11:20) “When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.” A. Mary and Martha's words were similar but their actions were different.
3. Jesus understands our despair. (John 11:23) “When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.” A. Jesus is not indifferent to the pain and grief around Him.
4. Jesus put God’s glory on display. “Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” A. Jesus’ humanity and deity points to the glory of God. 5. Jesus is victorious over death. “Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” A. Jesus defeated death so then there is no sin in your life, no dark thing in your heart that Jesus cannot also defeat. Jesus sacrificed His life to give life.
