“In My Prayers for all of You”
Philippians 4:1
1. What is intercession?
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people…” I Timothy 2:1
A. More than Paul inviting us to prayer, he is pleading for us to pray. There are many different types of prayer.
B. Intercession is a prayer for someone else, group or nation.
2. What is needed to become an intercessor?
“...The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16
A. Here are four things that are needed. Relationship, a plan (priority), simplicity and love.
3. This can help us in our intercession
“Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.”
Romans 10;1
A. When we recognize God hears our prayers. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” I John 5:14
B. Remember those who have prayed for us. We are all beneficiaries of prayer.
4. Understand that we can intercede in confidence.
“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. II Corinthians 1:10-11
A. We pray about what we know. Who have you helped by your prayers?
B. We also can pray what we don’t know. We pray knowing God’s Spirit can pray for us. Romans 8:26
