1. Pray for the harvest. (Luke 10:2) “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
A. Pray for the lost specifically. (Romans 10:1)
B. Pray for God to help you. (Ephesians 6:19)
2. Play your part. (I Corinthians 3:6) “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
A. What should you be doing in a particular situation. Is it prayer, teaching, planting the seeds of the gospel? Or patiently wait for the growth?
3. Plan on being flexible. (Matthew 28:19) “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...”
A. Be willing to adjust our approach to the people we are trying to reach. (I Corinthians 9)
B. We have to be willing to go to those we consider good or morally upright. (Ephesians 2:8)
C. We have to be willing to go to the lost. (Luke 19:10)
4. Practice respectful discussion. (I Peter 3:15) “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...”
A. We are to reason not argue. (Acts 18:19)
B. Look closer at I Peter 3:15
5. Proclaim the gospel. (Matthew 9:35) “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.”
A. Show and tell. Our personal testimony and good works are important but they do not give the content of the gospel. (John 4:42)
B. Plant the seeds of the gospel. (Romans 10:17)
